BLACK CHURCH P.A.C.
EXPERT POSITIONING
Building Legacy Credibility
OUR TASK
In addition to in-market activations and digital mobilization, the Black Church PAC sought to establish itself — and its co-founder, Pastor Mike McBride — as national thought leaders at the intersection of faith, justice, and civic engagement during the 2024 election cycle.
The goal was not short-term visibility, but long-term credibility: placing the organization’s voices into national discourse through essays, op-eds, and formal recognition that would extend the impact of their work beyond events and election timelines.
CNBetter Media was tasked with shaping, pitching, and placing this intellectual capital — while also identifying opportunities to secure institutional recognition for the organization’s leadership and impact.
OUR SOLUTION
CNBetter Media executed a multi-layered thought leadership and recognition strategy, designed to elevate the Black Church PAC’s voice with intention, credibility, and endurance.
Thought Leadership Development & Editorial Strategy
- Worked with the organization to curate a series of commissioned essays from respected faith leaders addressing urgent and controversial topics relevant to the election cycle and Black communities.
- Conducted editorial research to identify the most strategic national outlets for each essay based on audience, tone, and subject matter.
- Crafted customized pitch angles for each piece, positioning contributors as credible, nuanced voices rather than reactive commentators.
Op-Ed Outreach & Media Placement
- Initially offered select essays as exclusives to top-tier outlets including The Washington Post, USA Today, Politico, ESSENCE, EBONY, and The New York Times.
- As the historic election news cycle intensified, CNBetter Media adapted strategy, expanding outreach to multiple outlets simultaneously to increase placement opportunities.
- Successfully secured publication of Rev. Leslie Callahan’s essay, “A Case for Abortion,” with ESSENCE.
- Generated additional interest from EBONY, Salon, and Rolling Out, with continued negotiations for remaining essays.
Strategic Content Repositioning
When national placement opportunities slowed due to newsroom saturation, CNBetter Media advised the client to:
- House the essays on the Black Church PAC website, creating a centralized hub for organizational thought leadership
- Leverage the essays as evergreen content for newsletters, social media, and future media outreach
- Explore publishing the collection as a downloadable resource, expanding lead generation and long-term engagement
This ensured the work retained value and visibility regardless of external media constraints.
Awards & Recognition Campaign
Recognizing the significance of the organization’s work, CNBetter Media proactively pursued formal industry recognition:
- Identified the Anthem Awards as a strategic platform aligned with civic impact and social good
- Successfully negotiated deadline extensions with award organizers after submission windows had closed
- Prepared and submitted nominations for both Black Church PAC and Live Free USA
OUR RESULTS
- Secured national op-ed placement with ESSENCE Magazine
- Generated ongoing editorial interest from multiple top-tier outlets
- Established a structured thought leadership content library for the organization
- Won two Gold Anthem Awards recognizing the impact of:
- Organize the Church (Black Church PAC)
- Live Free USA
- Elevated Pastor Mike McBride’s standing as a nationally recognized civic and faith leader
Through disciplined editorial strategy and proactive recognition efforts, CNBetter Media helped the Black Church PAC move from moment-based visibility to institutional authority.
This phase of the engagement ensured the organization’s ideas, values, and leadership would continue to resonate — not just during an election cycle, but long after it concluded. The work stands as proof that thought leadership, when executed with care and strategy, becomes a lasting asset.
